April and May have given way to June, reawakening my “summer camp fever”! It is that time of the year again when you suit up, lock and load, and prepare to hit the road for another SoccerPlus Tour. It is a time when life is spent jumping from dorm room to dorm room throwing down as much cafeteria food as possible before racing off to the airport. When you are asked “would you like to check any bags today Mr. Crane?”, as you quickly hand over your dirty clothes bag, reeking of wet clothes and goalkeeper gloves, for the attendants to deal with.
The highs and lows carry you through your journey across the country. Every stop bringing new challenges and obstacles and the need for them to be conquered. The thrill and feeling one receives pulling up to a gas station to restock on boxed and bottled food cannot be enjoyed by all. It takes a special character to endure to hardships of summer camp life. With that character you are welcomed into the special family of SoccerPlus
The family and friends created by the extremes of summer camp fever cannot broken or distanced. The relationships built over weeks of hard work and persistence cannot be broken by time or anguish. They stay with us, always offering a helpful hand or word for encouragement. SoccerPlus has given to me more then I could ever imagine of giving back.
As I wander through my life looking for the next challenge and obstacle I will face, I know I will always have my “summer camp fever”. This time of the year I remember the high of “summer camp fever” and welcome back the challenges of life on the road.
What memories does June bring to your mind?
